Inaugural Middle School
Team #1 -Spring 2025
What: Middle School (grades 7&8) Girls Lacrosse Team competing against other area school/community programs
Who: This program is available to any 7/8 grade girl who attends a school in Memphis, where lacrosse is not offered as an official school sport or part of an established rec program.
Head Coach is Syndey Jones. White Station grad, college goalie, current Rhodes College Assitant Coach. Primarily female coaching staff of former players for 7/8 team.
When: Season runs from Mid-January (pre-season training) through end of April. First games late February. Training opportunities will be available throughout the winter to help girls build stick skills.
Practices will be in East Memphis. Schedules will be determined based on coach's availability. Typically 2-3 practices per week pre-season one of them weekend. Once season starts end of February 1-2 games a week vs. 1-2 practices. Games are played during weekdays. There is NO out of town travel.
Local programs include: Bartlett, Briarcrest, Collierville, ECS, Houston, Hutchsion, Lausanne, St. George's, St. Mary's
Where: We are based in East Memphis and practices vary depending on field availablility. Typically at Saint Agnes and/or Sea Isle Park.
Why: Girls lacrosse has been expolding in the Memphis area over the last five years. Hundreds of girls, grades k-8 are playing during the spring season. Our vision is to provide a great experience, grounded in fundamental lacrosse skills, developing players who will be able to compete on a high school team.
Cost: While pricing will not be set until Mid-October, parents can expect the following up-front costs for outfitting your player and registering for the team. THE FOLLOWING COSTS ARE ESTIMATED
$300 spring season (uniforms players keep, team equipment, ref fees, field fees, etc).
$250-350 equipment (quality stick, goggles, mouthpiece)
$35 USA Lacrosse Membership (required)
Total estimated out of pocket: $500-$650
Stars 901 LC recognizes that there is a signficant out of pocket expense for girls trying the sport for the first time. No family will be turned away due to financial hardship and registration discounts are available for qualified families.

Stars 901's Coach Jess provides players with detailed instruction and example how the club expects players to practice "Wall Ball" on their own.

We belive that the String King Women's Complete Jr. is the best bang for your buck when purchasing your first lacrosse stick. The quality of the stick and the "pocket" is the best value we've seen that will give players an advantage to learn how to pass and catch easier.
